Big Changes for the Pumpkinvine Bike Ride!

After 23 years, we’re reimagining the Pumpkinvine Bike Ride—starting with a new date! Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 6, but that’s not the only update. We’re making changes to better serve our riders, volunteers, and the long-term sustainability of this event.

At its peak in the early 2010s, the ride drew over 1,000 cyclists and 100+ volunteers. But in recent years, attendance hovered around 500, impacted by competition from other events, shifting cycling trends, and a shrinking volunteer base. Surveys confirmed that our traditional Father’s Day weekend date conflicted with graduations, vacations, and early-summer plans. So, we listened—and acted.

Introducing the Pumpkinvine Classic! Kicking off from Das Dutchman Essenhaus, the ride now aligns with local favorites like the Middlebury Fall Festival, Goshen Arts on the Millrace, and the Bristol Corndog Festival, making for a fantastic community weekend. A new Metric Century will accompany our standard, and beloved on-trail routes. Plus, all riders will celebrate at Essenhaus with a meal, pie, and ice cream.

Join us for something fresh yet familiar! Registration opens April 2.
