The 2011 Annual Pumpkinvine Bike Ride will use a combination of developed recreational trails and marked country roads to provide routes ranging from 12 to 102 miles. Construction of seven miles of new trail between Middlebury and Shipshewana is planned to start in the autumn of 2010. If the trail is ready by June 18, 2011 as expected there will be exciting changes for our ride.
The trails pass through Amish communities and will provide a memorable experience for bicyclists who want a light workout with minimal exposure to automobile traffic.
Our ride will also satisfy bicyclists who want vigorous workout on low-traffic county roads. These routes pass through Amish communities in Elkhart and LaGrange Counties.
All of the routes are also interesting to bicyclists who want to experience horses with buggies, farm animals in fields, flower gardens, country schools and small towns. Country stores and businesses that operate without electricity are marked on the route maps and you are welcome to stop for a visit.
This website will be updated with detailed information about the 2011 ride in January 2011.
